Race fans, this is a tough announcement. Today, we have to announce that Lester Building Systems LLC is discontinuing our primary sponsorship program with Chub Frank Racing. We had big plans to continue and expand this partnership, which began in 2004 following Chub’s race shop fire, over the next few years. What we didn’t plan on was a deepening recession that has no predictable end in sight.

Frankly, we really were excited as we looked into the future, anticipating the move toward more potential WoO Dirt Late Model Series coverage on Speed TV. But while our business, relative to much of our industry, didn’t feel recessionary pressures until just recently, it’s apparent that we’re in for challenging times over an unknown period of time. While the company is in great shape (we’ve been around since 1947 and have weathered tougher times) we are just having to make some hard short-term decisions that effect some long-term programs like our program with Chub.

We want to make it clear that in no way is our decision based on our feelings for Chub and his team, for whom we have only the highest regard. They have done everything we’ve asked and more since day one!

And for any company considering partnering with Chub and the WoO, we are certain that it remains a sound marketing strategy. It supplemented our other national and regional efforts, was reasonable and generated lots of good will but a number of direct building orders as well. It’s a kick to see folks wearing a Chub shirt with Lester Buildings on it but a bigger one to see building orders come in. We saw them from Chub’s amazing fans as well as from various suppliers that serve the dirt racing community.

In the end, it was a pleasure working with Chub. And to see how truly engaged his “Chubzillian” fan base is with him. Chub is a salt-of-the-earth, professional in his approach and highly-respected throughout the industry.
